The arrests were made across multiple provinces, following a year-long investigation that coordinated efforts between Spanish law enforcement and international agencies. Officials say the network had established a sophisticated logistics system, using fishing vessels and other maritime routes to avoid detection.

According to police statements, the organization was responsible for moving significant quantities of synthetic drugs, including amphetamines and ecstasy, to Algerian markets. On the return voyages, they would pick up undocumented migrants and illegal weapons, creating a lucrative two-way smuggling operation.
